Guerlain – Attrape-Coeur

Perfume: Attrape-Coeur
House: Guerlain
Source: The Perfume Court
Size: 1mL

Perfume Court Notes: rose, violet, iris, amber, vanilla, and woody notes

Date: 10/26/08 Weather: 55 degrees, sunny

Comments: Starts with strong powder. A violet attempts to make an appearance, then gets smothered by the powder. The powder is slightly sour for the first couple hours. After a couple of hours, begin to develop the vanilla Guerlainade base. Hint of violets. Still pretty powdery. 4 hours later – vanilla, violets, roses. The roses add a lotiony note. Gone in 7 hours.

Date: 12/31/08 Weather: 35 degrees, windy, evening

Comments: Powder, amber, flowers. Wearing over 11 hour old By Kilian – Love. As a result, a tad sweeter than normal. Still “perfumy” – particularly at the top. Nose still wonky so not picking out notes very well. May be a bit much this time. Fades down to the guerlainade in about 3 hours. Seemed to work in the smoky environment I was in.

Date: 5/6/09 Weather: 57 degrees, cloudy

Comments: Again – allergies + benadryl. Result – missing top notes. First hour – greenish woody powder. Picking up some vanilla. Dries down to a pretty floral guerlanaide vanilla over the next 2 hours. There is a creaminess to the older Guerlain line that works with my wonky nose – which has been picking up any hint of astringency/sharpness/funk in scents that usually don’t have any. In this case, there was a “sharp” moment between minutes 30 and 40 that faded quickly. Sadly becomes very faint after 3 hours.

Date: 7/15/09 Weather: 80 degrees, sunny

Comments: Amber, Iris, Rose and Wood at the top. Then a really healthy dose of powder – so the whole registers as a green, incensed powder. 30 minutes in – “perfume”. The amber blend in this one seems to lean towards the herbal.
