Parfums MDCI – Enlevement au Serail (FK No. 3)
Perfume: Enlevement au Serail
House: Parfums MDCI
Perfumer: Francis Kurkdijan
Source: Swap – Perfumequeen
Size: 2mL Spray
Luckyscent Notes: bergamot, mandarin, ylang-ylang, jasmine sambac, tuberose, rose, wallflower, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver
Date: 7/24/08 Weather: 67 degrees, sunny
Comments: The top was bergamot and flowers. 10 minutes in, this scent reminds me of Bond No. 9’s Chinatown – peaches, white flowers laced with a little bit of sandalwood and vanilla. It becomes progressively more powdery (and stronger) over the next hour. 90 minutes in – a slight sour note appears and disappears when sniffing the wrist. Not apparent in the sillage. 2 hours in – there is a note that reminds me of mothballs that makes an appearance. It’s not cedar – more floral than that. There’s also a punk stick note as well. Weird. The strange notes burn away at 3 hours and back to the pretty Chinatown-like fruity floral. Less powder, more sandalwood and vanilla. 5 hours – get that weird punk stick note again. That lingers until the end. One of those scents that will need to be tried again – there are moments I love and moments I hate. Maybe cooler weather will minimize the moments I hate.

What’s a punk stick?

Punk sticks are used to light fireworks. They usually smell like sulfur, wood, smoke and a pukey chemical. I spent time as a stagehand in a past life. Once you smell one, tough to forget.
