L’Artisan – Bois Farine

Perfume: Bois Farine
House: L’Artisan
Perfumer: Jean Claude Ellena
Source: Swap – ComDiva
Size: 2.5 mL

Basenotes Notes: Fennel Seed, Iris, White Cedar, Guiac, Sandalwood, Benzoin

Date: 7/18/08 Weather: 85 degrees, muggy

Comments: Wood and milk chocolate with some nuts. Within 10 minutes, develops a leathery note among the woods, chocolate and nuts. That’s pretty much it. Not entirely sure whether or not I like this. I sense it may be that nutty note and chocolate-covered pencils that isn’t doing it for me today. An hour later, start picking up a fennel note and a slight hint of cumin after the nutty chocolate covered pencil burns off. 90 minutes in – a cherry-almond note appears. Still hanging on to that cumin. There is a lot going on with this one. 4 hours – this creamy vanillic thing. 6 hours – vanillic cherry musk. Finally faded after 10 hours.

Date: 12/28/08 Weather: 62 degrees, cloudy

Comments: Starts with wood and vanilla. There is a sour note that, thankfully, burns off after 15 minutes – leaving a yeasty sweet bready note. At the 30 minute mark – something leathery appears. I am wearing this over 10 hour old Hanae Mori Butterfly and my nose is a bit wonky. Still smells pretty good. As it wears – there is something perfumy about this. Probably the woods. Also catching the fennel note after an hour or so. By the time I went to bed – had settled into a perfumy, vanilla-laced iris. Slightly musky. Was still lingering when I woke the next morning – almost 10 hours after application.
