Montale – Aoud Damascus

Perfume: Aoud Damascus
Perfumer: Montale
Source: Luckyscent
Size: 1 mL

Luckyscent Notes: Arabian aoud, Damascan roses, oliban pearls, gurgum

Date: 10/8/07 Weather: 75 degrees

Comments: Starts medicinal oud, then laces with medicinal rose. Settles into wood, hint of vanilla, roses and some leather. Perfect office scent – particularly after 1 hour, when it dries down to a clean woody rose. Further in the drydown – leather, floral and a hint of vanilla. A little concerned about the strongly medicinal quality of the topnotes. Like the rest of the scent.

Date: 2/20/08 Weather: 37 degrees, clear

Comments: Don’t get the medicinal note this time. Vanilla, roses, some leather – maybe some carnation(?). The Oud is more subtle on this wearing. The oud finally burns off after 4 hours and it becomes a creamy vanilla-based floral. Slight hint of rose. The wood appears very briefly on occasion. Like this scent more on this wearing – seems to blossom in the cold. Much sweeter than the other Montale Aoud offerings – particularly on the dry-down. Still going after 7 hours.

Date: 6/1/08 Weather: 80 degrees, humid

Comments: Huge medicinal top note. More like skin antiseptic than aoud. That note lingers a good hour or so before the roses make an appearance and it becomes the trademark Montale Aoud/Rose combination. As it dries down, turns into a sweet, slightly vanillic rose/jasmine thing with a healthy dose of spices. The drydown on this really is lovely and it lasts forever. At least 12 hours on this wearing.
