Frederic Malle – Vetiver Extraordinaire

Perfume: Vetiver Extraordinare
House: Frederic Malle
Perfumer: Dominique Ropion
Source: Swap – SMM
Size: 2.5 mL

Editions de Parfums Notes: vetiver, woods

Date: 8/19/08 Weather: 75 degrees, sunny, humid

Comments: Just what I was in the mood for this morning. Green, woody, a hint of anise, a dusty note that settles into the skin. The anise dominates for a brief moment between minutes 15 and 30. The dusty note gets a bit funky about minute 30, then fades to powder. I’m guessing this is a benchmark vetiver. Wears pretty close and feels like a fuzzy green blanket. Gone in 6 hours.

Date: 11/8/08 Weather: 57 degrees, drizzly

Comments: Green anise. A hit of citrus and woods at the top. Not picking up a lot of dust this time. Spike kitty sniffed and made the “toxic” face. I don’t think he’s fond of vetiver.

Date: 1/4/09 Weather: 45 degrees, sunny, windy

Comments: Very medicinal this wearing. Again, may be a result of my wonky nose. Picked up some iris and a dirt note as well. Anise makes an appearance 1 hour in and disappears, then becomes a lovely rooty iris-type scent. Gone after 7 hours.

Date: 4/22/09 Weather: 55 degrees, cloudy

Comments: Vetiver and anise. After an hour, picks up a rotten grapefruit note. Yech….never did this before…..The rotten grapefruit finally burns off at the 2 hour mark and it is woods, vetiver and a hint of spices (black pepper).
