Guerlain – Apres l’Ondee

Perfume: Apres l’Ondee
House: Guerlain
Perfumer: Jacques Guerlain
Source: The Perfume Court
Size: 1mL EdT

OsMoz Notes:
Top note : Lemon, Bergamot, Neroli, Blackcurrant
Middle note : Carnation, Violet, Mimosa, Sandalwood
Base note : Vanilla, Benzoin, Iris roots, Heliotrope

Date: 3/5/08 Weather: 50 degrees, sunny

Comments: Starts almost like a lily of the valley scent. A brief hint of green appears 2 minutes after application. A musty note appears, then some citrus and violets. The citrus gets a bit stronger 5 minutes in. 10 minutes in – violets. 30 minutes in – soap(?!?!?). And violets. 40 minutes in – a faint hint of anise with the violets. The scent almost disappears on me. It gets a bit powdery (violet powder) then gone in 2 hours.

Date: 4/11/08 Weather: 60 degrees, cloudy

Comments: Ohhhh. NOW I GET IT!!!! Violets, Iris, a slight lemony note. The guerlainade. Very very pretty!!!! More vanilla and sandalwood on this wearing. Note to self – save this one for spring – 60 degrees and above.

Date: 9/7/08 Weather: 78 degrees, sunny, gorgeous

Comments: Violets, a hint of powder. Within an hour, fades to a light version guerlainade. More vanillic on the sillage than up close, where it is very clean and greener. Perfect for this absolutely stunning, slightly breezy and warm day. Remains violet, with some powder for the next 3 hours. Very faint after 4 hours – but if you sniff the wrist closely, you get violet soap.

One Response to “Guerlain – Apres l’Ondee”

  1. I have this too! It was very hard to find and I had to go all the way to NYC Bergdorf Goodman just to get it. It changes on me all the time. My favourite version of it is when it’s mainly flowers(?) with a woodier, vine-ish sort of undertone. But it goes away VERY quickly and becomes sort of… soapy, dismal, disappointing after less than 20 mins.
