Frederic Malle – L’eau d’Hiver

Perfume: L’eau d’Hiver
House: Frederic Malle
Perfumer: Jean Claude Ellena
Source: The Perfumed Court
Size: 1 mL

Perfume Court Notes: bergamot, angelica, iris, hawthorn, jasmine, honey, carnation, white heliotrope, caramel and musk

Date: 1/27/08 Weather: 40 degrees and sunny

Comments: a dry, spicy floral. Reminds me a bit of tobacco. Iris seems to be the main note as other flowers work around it. I think I can pick out bergamot, angelica and carnation. Becomes a close wearing floral skin scent. Reminds me of ambrette.

Date: 3/8/08 Weather: 45 degrees, clearing, evening

Comments: Ambrette (definite anise scent). Also registering a bit watery this time. Not picking up too many other flowers. Didn’t evolve much. Gone after 4 hours.

Date: 5/31/08 Weather: 75 degrees, sunny

Comments: Ambrette, lilac, tobacco and dryer sheets. More sillage than expected for such a “light” fragrance. Still doesn’t evolve much. Dries down to dryer sheets – slightly soapy and floral. Lasts forever this time, about 10 hours. I think I liked this one better in colder weather.

Retired, finished sample – 5/31/08
