Serge Lutens – Vetiver Oriental

Perfume: Vetiver Oriental
Perfumer: Serge Lutens
Source: Luckyscent
Size: 1mL

Luckyscent notes: Sap, iris pallida, undergrowth notes, vetiver, gaiac wood, chocolate, musk, amber, mosses, sandalwood, labdanum

Date: 1/14/08 Weather: 40 degrees and rainy

Comments: This is very carefully blended so that I cannot separate the notes. I smell a hint of leather, greens, wood and powder with a touch of sweetness. Also seems a bit linear in the evolution. I’m not entirely certain what to make of this scent other than I like it a lot. I like how it blends into this sweet green floral powder cloud with just a few drops. Pretty stuff.

Date: 3/18/08 Weather: 52 degrees, cloudy

Comments: After playing with vintage fragrances over the past couple months, I can better appreciate this scent’s green dustiness. The iris is pretty strong this wearing.

Date: 6/4/08 Weather: 70 degrees, humid, stormy

Comments: The top this morning was strongly leather. Wasn’t expecting that. In an hour or so – started to pick up this green amber almost barbershopish smell. I kept looking around to see what man was wearing cologne and realized it was me. Maybe not the most appropriate thing for a conference. A stronger sillage than expected. Calmed down to a slightly soapy powdery amber after 4 hours. It was still going 11 hours later as a green soapy amber. Really interesting how different this scent is each time I wear it.

Date: 8/11/08 Weather: 75 degrees, sunny

Comments: Top was vetiver. Wearing this over 10 hour old Onda so that may have been the reason for the strengthening of that note. Dried down to a gorgeous, creamy vetiver/amber. I would catch occasional whiffs of this on the way home. May need to try this on the SO to see if he would wear it. Showered after 4 hours.

Date: 3/15/09 Weather: 45 degrees, rainy

Comments: Very strong orris butter note at the top. Almost felt a bit dusty. I liked it, but felt somewhat uncomfortable. Sillage seemed strong today and was going to see my scent-sensitive family. Dried down after a couple of hours to the creamy vetiver/amber. Thankfully, no comments either good or bad.
