Ava Luxe – Turkish Vanilla

Perfume: Turkish Vanilla
Perfumer: Serena Ava Franco
Source: Ava Luxe
Size: 5 mL Spray EdP

Notes: vanilla bean, vanilla, cinnamon, ambrette seed, sandalwood, amber

Date: 8/30/07 Weather: 85 degrees

Wearing: At the top a very yummy vanilla. Some powder appears 5 minutes in. After 7 minutes, the scent picks up a floral/ citrus note. 8 minutes – an anise note appears. 12 minutes, becomes a purer vanilla. Other notes gently weave through the main vanilla note throughout. A light incense note appears 1 hour in.

Comments: I am finding these vanilla scents very comforting and soothing. This one, despite the wearing, really isn’t that complicated. Mostly vanilla and some spice.

Date: 9/11/07 Weather: 80 degrees and rainy

Comments: Still fairly linear. Also very soothing. This scent does not have the plasticky note that sometimes appears in scents with vanilla notes.

Subsequent comments: This fragrance is in regular rotation in my wardrobe. A scent that I grab when I want something comforting.

Date: 9/10/08 Weather: 70 degrees, cloudy

Comments: I wore it quite a bit last summer and fall and put it down as I tried more scents. It’s probably been 6 months since the last wearing. This time – definitely picking up the cinnamon and sandalwood with the vanilla. It almost reads as an incensed vanilla for the first 30 minutes or so. Then becomes a more pure “vanilla bean” vanilla with a healthy lashing of cinnamon and a slight waxy quality. 60 minutes in, the incense note reappears along with a hint of plastic. Fading really fast this time. Almost gone in 3 hours. Came back with a vengeance as a pure “vanilla bean” an hour later and stayed that way until I scrubbed it off after 10 hours of wear. Glad I wore this again.
