Comments: Lavender – emphasizing the minty and cocoa aspects of this herb. Becomes a creamier lavender on the dry-down. Pretty much gone in 3 hours.

ScentScribbles Notes: Ginger, spice, resin, berry

Date: 12/10/09 Weather: 43 degrees, sunny

Comments: Cinnamon, hint of fruit, hint of nutmeg. Reminds me of a bayberry christmas candle. Stays this way for the duration. Gone within 5 hours – unusual for an oil.

Comments: Burnt rubber. After 15 minutes, just disappears. 30 minutes, pick up a hint of refrigerated grocery store florist carnation and a slight musky note. Really faint. 6 hours later – I am wearing a spicy vanilla skin scent. I must be anosmic to the musk used in the heart of this thing. Completely gone within 8 hours.

Comments: Starts with a very pretty pine/cedar note. Quite balsamic but still very dry. Hint of citrus in the first couple of minutes. Then goes cedary, then settles into a suede iris leather. Not picking up the spices or the florals or any of the weirdly compelling notes other commentators notice. Just iris and suede leather. Finally start picking up spices at the 3 hour mark along with the vanilla and amber. Gone after 6 hours.

Comments: Starts smelling plasticine. In 2 minutes – you can catch a hint of pale flowers then it goes coconut/vanilla tropical with a burnt rubber note. Not sure if the “off” note is a result of my wonky sinuses or if it really smells this way. Finally settles down into a coconut vanilla tropical – very similar to Sage Pearl. Lasts forever – was still smelling it the next morning.

Comments: More blackberry which fades into a musk that contains saliva as a note. Not as sexy as Fracas parfum – which contains the same note. Gone in 4 hours.

Luckyscent Notes:figs, osmanthus, davana, tea

Comments: Fruit tea at the top. Goes a tad sour (like many tea scents do) for the next 15 minutes or so. The sour note finally burns off and you are left with an astonishingly pretty fruit (apricots/figs) with a hint of airy floral. Especially nice on the sillage. Unfortunately, gone in 6 hours.

Basenotes Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin, Neroli, Coriander, Vetiver, Cedar, Tonka, Tobacco, Nutmeg, Pepper, Capsicum

Comments: I think this bottle has some heat damage. The top notes were chemical and alcoholic. It then went through a weird plastic phase before finally settling into a dusty vetiver after 10 minutes. The scent of Virginia red clay. At 60 minutes – get occasional whiffs of dust and spices on the sillage. Quite nice. At the 90 minute mark, begin picking up an anise-laced tobacco note on the skin. Little sillage to speak of- becomes very close-wearing. Gone in less than 6 hours.

Comments: Haven’t worn new scents in a long time. Trying to get rid of many 1/4 mL dregs of samples. And honestly have not felt like analyzing what I’m wearing these days. Still – my bag of things to try has gotten larger, so it’s time to get back in the saddle. This one starts with a pretty orange note with healthy lashings of woods, cloves and a soapy amber. The soap in this one is a tad strong – particularly at the 60 minute mark (bummer). Those first 60 minutes, though, are quite pretty, a tad powdery and yet easily wearable by a man. At the 90 minute mark – morphs into a spicy amber. Reminds me of an amber container (resin) that I picked up at a witchy shop a long time ago that is still scenting my scarves. Got a good 8 hours out of it….especially on my shirt.
