Guerlain – Shalimar Light (Eau Legere)

Perfume: Shalimar Light
House: Guerlain
Source: Beauty Encounter
Size: 1mL

OsMoz Notes:
Top: Lemon, Bergamot
Heart: jasmine, iris, orange
Base: Vanilla, amber

Date: 6/20/08 Weather: 70 degrees, sunny

Comments: Starts quite citrusy/bergamot, quickly turns floral with a hint of citrus. A rose note appears after about 15 minutes along with some spices. Within 30 minutes, morphs into a spicy, vanillic amber. Similar to Shalimar’s dry down, but not as creamy. And it is also missing some of Shalimar’s mustiness. About an hour in, a sharp, almost chemical smell comes into play. Not entirely unpleasant, but it is here that I miss the original’s stunning creaminess. This burns off and you start getting whiffs of Guerlinade. This weaves in and out with an occasional burned rubber note. Again, not unpleasant. More….interesting. Towards the end (about 6 hours later), a slightly rubbery amber. I’m going to have to revisit this one to see if I still get the rubbery note.

Date: 6/25/08 Weather: 86 degrees, humid

Comments: Dominantly amber. A little citrus, a little vanilla. Walked outside in this. The heat and sweat made this disappear within 2 hours.

Date: 11/18/08 Weather: 30 degrees, evening

Comments: Lemon Cream Pie. Then Amber with a hint of lemon and vanilla. The amber in this has a more herbal quality than Shalimar. Next morning – amber, slightly herbal and vanillic. Loving this more in the colder weather.
